It has been said that a man who wears a belt AND suspenders is a person who cannot trust the future. Well, I think that's describes just about everyone on this planet as we face the final thirty days before the "most powerful nation on earth" chooses our future, and the fate of the Repoobs.

 

Over the past four years, we've witnessed a world-wide drama in which the planet's economies were virtually destroyed and the persons responsible have been able to pull off a charade in which they "get away clean"!  Many of them became insanely rich as a result; and, we gave them a brilliant black patsy to hang the blame on.  They accomplished all of this "legally", because they had access, time and money to make it all legal.

 

In the mid-70's I witnessed my first nuclear (underground) detonation.  When I saw the entire Rainier Mesa http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rainier_Mesa  quiver and oscillate like a bowl of jello, I had horrible thoughts for the future of mankind.  Under the influence of people like Feynman, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Feynman , I wondered how the planet would survive if we kept this horrendous firepower and the power of those insane religions that brought us chattel slavery and the Crusades.  We're here folks!!

 

Our wicked and wacky Media treat the up-coming election as if it were a Super Bowl, or an event at the Roman Coliseum.  Getting scared! You oughta be!

 

Roosevelt warned us against politicians who use fear and economic strife to gain power and exert control.  We've tolerated such crap since 1980.  Now we're facing the loss of the only remaining branch of government our Founders gave us to provide "checks and balances" on power.  The invaders have unlimited money, both foreign and domestic, to ply their foreign and domestic interests. 

 

The Rich, who keep their money off-shore, are vying for total control and the extinction of government.  In this post-Cold War world, they want to turn to "markets" for everything (your health, the water you drink, the air you breathe).

JOB CREATORS vs. JOB SCAVENGERS

A New Way vs. The Old Way

 

A mark of insanity for our current state of affairs is the fact that a significant portion of the electorate is even "considering" a vote for Mitt and the Repoobs in these next several weeks.  Just about everybody should know by now just how Mitt made his money -- killing jobs and making a "killing" in the process.  Take a look again at just how many jobs were being killed by the Repoobs on their way out the door (just four years ago).  Take a close look at the composition of the jobless; many of whom have been steadily looking for a job during the continuing rout of jobs that persisted well into President Obama's term. His "turn-around" of that phenomenon is something for the history books.

 

You may be shocked to find a lot of college graduates among the number of unemployed.  That's because the "money" to be made in corporate America comes from sacking highly paid older workers and other types of workers who don't fit.  How much older?  Older than the next crop coming out of college.  The older workers are slowly coming to the awareness that their "careers" are over.  The younger "new-hires" are slowly becoming aware that they will never have a "career".  The smart ones expect to be "laid off", and will eternally be looking for work.

 

Wait a minute, you say, "Don't they tell all of us to go to college, so we can get good jobs?"  Yes, and the maddening truth is that you will probably have to have a college degree to get a job.  That job will last only as long as it takes for the scavengers to reap a new crop of graduates.

 

A close look at the record profits among corporations in the United States is traceable to lay-offs, buy-outs, mergers, buy-backs, and both "venture" and "private" capital activities that buy weak companies, load them up with debt and push them into bankruptcy.  Mitt and his fellow scavengers say they have a "plan" for jobs. You've already seen their plan.  It's been around, and gaining momentum since Mad Ronnie's term.

 

Stay Vigilant!  You can't think "out of the box" if there is no box ;-- or, you forgot how to THINK!

CORRUPTION (In Politics)

"It's Really Our Fault, You Know"

 

When I worked on my first Master's Degree in the early 1970's at the University of New Mexico, I learned that our Federal Government had, by then, grown so large and complex that our Congress (Senate and House of Representatives) were overwhelmed.  They could not adequately study and complete the laws needed by our citizenry.  Regulatory Agencies proliferated as a result (some of them later became Cabinet Departments in the Executive Branch) . 

 

Two other events occurred as a result; the growth of lobbyists, and the growth of professional bureaucrats to man the regulatory agencies.  Our Laws became "themes" passed by Congress and signed by the President.  The Regulatory Agencies were tasked with putting the "meat" on the "skeleton" or thematic notions passed as "Laws".  Corporations and business interests bought lobbyists to "influence" the legislators and the regulators.

 

Over the intervening decades, along with our drift to the far right in our political attitudes, the lobbyists became more prolific, much better paid, and powerful enough to move into the legislature and actually write the "Laws" before they were signed and turned over to the regulators.  This process is now what we behold as MONEY IN POLITICS!

 

Each of us who vote; elect "Representatives" who are sent to Washington, D.C. to "bring home the bacon" -- mostly jobs and new employers.  We don't care how it's done, so long as we get what we want.  HELLO!  We now have hordes of lobbyists, and people who go into 'Representin' as a career! 

 

And what a fantastic career! Lush pay and benefits, and the ability to steal anything not nailed down (so long as they don't get caught).  If you're not slick enough to do it well, the lobbyists are there to help.  Now you know why people raise more and more money to get a job that pays a pittance of what it costs to get.  Once they get past the voters, the politicians are "off to the races" to pile up as much personal wealth as they can before they lose their seats.  Want to fix this? Don't give your representative more than two terms -- and make damn sure nobody worse than them ever becomes their challenger.

 

Stay Vigilant! We should apologize to  Old Mexico for criticizing their Mordida system!

"HE" CAN'T' ??

"We" Certainly Can -- And Will"

 

In your dreams, Mitt!  Suppose one of your corporations faced a strike in which the strikers demanded total replacement of Management as the only condition under which they would negotiate.

 

Suppose, in addition, that the corporate CEO is really the Chief Executive and  staff of our National Goverment.  In that case,  " Management" turns out to be the Voters, and the "strikers"  the Repoob Party.  Mitt obviously believes that the people are not "sovereign" and this is no longer a Democratic Republic.  He seems to believe that the Repoob stranglehold on our government will bully the voters into giving him power.  Accept their blackmail and we lose our Republic!

 

A total landslide against this gangster tactic will show the world that the Democracy we tout so highly, actually exists!

Having exposed themselves on race and class, the Repoobs have re-grouped.  The morning talk shows today feature Mitt touting Space Defense.  Here again, these clandestine skunks are counting on public ignorance.  To catch up, Google:

If you have carefully read the Transcripts from Boca Raton; recorded  comments by Mitt to his monied backers, you now know how dangerously ignorant Mitt is on these subjects.  His talk about a "dirty bomb" is highly disturbing.  His technical misunderstanding is laughable, if not tragic for a person reaching for the "button".

Focus, not on the media clips of Romney, but on the audience.  You will see a representative group of the 53% of the voters Mitt covets.  During most of my early lifetime, the wack-jobs of the extreme Right numbered about 25% of the U.S. electorate.  That percentage was steady and predictable.  They represented those who wanted to oppress non-whites forever, and the  "hard money" nuts.

 

Since Tricky Dick, reinforced by Mad Ronnie, we've seen this percentage of the electorate grow.

Nixon's "Southern Strategy", reinforced by Reagan's "Starve Government" strategy, brought on Repoobism; a political and economic cancer that has rooted inside what used to be the Republican Party.  The party cannot survive if the Repoobs are not soundly defeated in the 2012 election.

 

It began when Nixon took us off the gold standard.  This sparked a series of commodity shocks around the globe; principally in oil.  As Drucker told the story; A greater transfer of wealth had never before been seen on the planet.  The tremendous sums that went to the Middle East could not be absorbed and wound up in Money Center Banks (New York, London, Tokyo; and later Miami and Los Angeles). 

 

Walter Wriston of CitiBank/Citicorp got the notion that if banks (that had to lend money to make money) would lend to sovereign nations, they would never face default.  Hence, the shift of debt onto the backs of the poor, mostly in under-developed and Latin countries.  The economic problems have rattled around the planet ever-since.  We now face a culmination of the past 41 years of financial mayhem; as the world's central banks struggle to help their economies survive.

 

Politically, here at home, the Money Boys arose (first Boesky and Milken, and now the "Venture" Boys); and, through a series of financial shocks, first in housing, then in hi-tech, and, finally, the "whopper" in housing under "W".  These rich newcomers joined the wacko-Right to give us the Repoob Mess in our House of Representatives (where our government funding is controlled).  The 25% grew to what Mitt thinks is now 53%.

 

Stay Vigilant!  We have to show Mitt and Queen Ann that they are wrong.  The people in that room do not represent us!!

MITT'S "EXCLUSION"

Add another Color to our National Divide?

 

Charles Murray"s new book Coming Apart,  details the widening divide within "white America".

This country has long accepted a color divide (some confuse this with race); but now, on no less authority than that of the grand Panderer, Mitt Romney, a large chunk of whites have been "written off" along with all non-whites, over claimed differences of  class, dependency, income, wealth, work ethic, ... the list is long.  Clearly among the famous "47%" of voters that Mitt and the Repoobs have no interest in, these poor whites lend yet another color to our national divide.

 

Mitt and the Repoobs are running their entire campaign on regional and color-based  hatred of our President, and their party's ability to hamstring our economy.  Mitt now makes it clear that they will not even try to mask their indifference to the poor or their hatred of people of color.  What's a poor white to do?  Sadly, most will vote for Mitt anyway.  Lot'sa luck getting Mitt and his Boca Raton crowd to give them anything more than the proverbial "sweat".

 

Tricky Dick, the founder of the Repoob movement, knew about these poor whites.  He knew where they lived, too.  Remember his grand "Revenue Sharing" scheme?  http://www.commondreams.org/cgi-bin/print.cgi?file=/views01/1119-06.htm  A "poor white",  as a child, Tricky wanted to help poor whites get money from the National Tax Pot.

 

I thought I would never agree with anything the Repoobs did between 2000 and 2008, but someone (mayve "W") came up with the notion that people in this country who are not white should try to "own things".  Fat Cats know you can't take from the poor if they don't have anything; so that notion rang false from the start. But, thinking deeper, if the poor really devised ways to create and keep wealth;  the Fat Cats couldn't steal it ... then maybe things might change?  Maybe poor whites could learn to do that too?

REPOOB "WELFARE" ??

 Right Wingers on the Government Tit

 

After serving decades in the trenches, pursuing the scientific break-throughs that enabled our diplomats and politicians to "win" the Cold War, Repoob talk about "redistribution of wealth" is pure "drivel" from the mouths of dangerously ignorant politicians.

 

For those (mostly young) who worship what this technology has brought us in new phones and computers, they need to know that the GOVERNMENT; not the CORPORATIONS paid the bill for the basic technology employed.

 

For everyone reading this, technology break-throughs should be seen as a "tree" in which all branches benefit from the root system and the main stem.  GOVERNMENT SPENDING provided those roots and stem.  Scientists and technologists, mostly in military uniform (until Tricky Dick ended the draft), were the brains and muscle providing the technological root and stem.  It's no accident that Bill Gates came to Albuquerque to launch his computer business.  Ditto for the likes of Jobs, Zuckerberg, and the entire train of technology-based "entrepreneurs".

 

After years of using their lobbyists to rig the Tax Code to favor their enterprises, Repoobs turned to directly looting the National Treasury through tax cuts for their right-wing constituents.  Welfare and "wealth-distribution" messages from the Repoobs take direct advantage of the ignorance of the voters.  Corporations did not pay the tech-development bills, the people did.

 

Stay Vigilant!  Corporate Welfare!  The Corporations versus the tax-paying citizens!  These are the issues of the 2012 election.

RE-TAKE "THE PURSE" in 2012??

This is a reminder to the voters in 2012; that our Founders placed the "power of the purse" in the members of the House of Representatives.  Money Bills (spending bills) originate in the House of Representatives.

 

Because too many voters stood around in 2010 with their thumbs in a dark place, the Money Boys packed the place with Repoobs.  They promised to "create jobs" if they were elected.  NOT!!

 

Easy to fix, though!.  NOT ONE REPOOB should be the "Tea Party" cry in 2012!  Dump the jerks and we will regain control of this economy, create jobs, and repair the global economy.  That one vote you have takes on immense power!.

Is is just me, or does anyone else remember this  guy mysteriously showing up at opportune times in the past in our national politics?  He showed up, curiously, involved in the Clinton/ Monica Lewinsky scandal.  Jerry Falwell was also a close associate of this guy at that time, as I recall.  Check out the article by Falwell in the December 2005 issue of Vanity Fair!

 

He's b-a-a-ack!  Is this guy now meddling in U.S. Presidential politics?  He's a buddy of Mitt and is fanatically backed by the Repoobs.

UNPROTECTED CHILDREN in the USA

PROTECTION, not Advocacy

 

Born under the designation, "Negro" in the United States in 1939.  I was blessed to be protected and educated until I had adequate capabilities to make it on my own  in this country.  I credit my parents (mother through age 6; and father, on  through age 18); they were aided throughout by a grandmother until age 12; and a grandfather through age 19).  My seven surviving brothers and sisters, likewise, were protected and achieved highly productive lives. 

 

My mother graduated from college in 1929; my father left school in the 6th grade to become the family wage-earner; to support a sick mother and his brothers and sisters.  All of my surviving brothers and sisters achieved college degrees, except for one, who was partially blind.

 

This was accomplished in spite of state and federal segregation laws, and segregated labor laws that imposed peonage.   The peonage system was in effect from the collapse of Reconstruction.  I was born and raised in a former slave state.

 

I relate this, because, in 2012, children, in increasing numbers do not make it safely from birth to adulthood, or become adequately prepared for self-sufficiency.  This is the case in spite of improvements in state and federal laws, and the expenditure of astronomical sums in public funds.  On this date, a teacher's union in Chicago is in the streets, on strike, while children suffer without education.  This is no mark of progress!

 

Ever-increasing numbers of youth of color fill our "for-profit" prisons.  Failures in the protection and preparation of these children are a mark of shame for parents, community members, clergy,  public officials, and "experts" in education, social-work.  An elaborate, indifferent and/or hostile "system"   awaits those children in the womb of a poor or non-white mother today; as they face being born into the United States.

 

Dysfunction is what we're dealing with. Financial and other resources abound in churches and "foundations" in this country that reap large tax benefits for promises to eradicate these conditions.  Close examination is needed to explain their monumental failure.

 

Trayvon Martin represents a child born into this "system".  His parents struggled  toprotect and prepare him.  The "system" worked its way on him.  He died trying to defend himself!

 

Stay Vigilant!  We all need to think long and hard about this!

THE PANDERER'S DESPERATE "SET-UP"??

Let's Connect The Dots....

 

Seven weeks before the 2012 Presidential Election, the voter faces an unusual and ominous set of circumstances that bear the mark of some kind of "set-up".  Suspiciously timed before the target events occurred, Mitt and the Repoobs rushed to condemn our State Department in a way that help inflame and spread international religious outrage. 

 

We've experienced "October" surprises (in September?) before, but never involving foreign intrigue, except for the rumors of Reagan's "deal" over the Iranian hostages in 1980.

 

What do we know so far?  A film, developed and funded in the United States, intended to inflame Muslim passions, was released on You-Tube and timed to the anniversary of 9-11.  The person or persons who developed, funded, and released the offending film are subjects of FBI investigation.

The desired impact was achieved and is still spreading throughout the world.  Four of our Embassy officials are dead; to include an Ambassador.  Rather than atone for their role in these events, the Repoob campaign is "doubling down".  Already jeopardizing our national economy in their push to regain power, the Repoobs are now threatening World Peace.  This is far more serious than burning a government building and shifting blame onto your political enemies.

 

Are these people that craven?  Having relentlessly played the "race" card domestically; are they now prepared to play the international "religion" card?  All actors, foregin and domestic must be identified and laid before the electorate BEFORE THE ELECTION!

 

We know that at least some of the players involved are craven enough to commit these acts, but what about the head of the pack?  Well, again, what do we know already?
 

     There was the bully teenager who led the attack on another teenager and cut his hair.

     There was the teenager who got his Governor dad to give him a State Trooper uniform to use to

      harrass motorists.

     There was the Mormon Bishop who threatened an unwed teen if she did not give her child to the
      church.
     There is the candidate, who at his own Convention giggled off-camera while his surrogate
     delivered a racist attack against the President.

Stay Vigilant!  None of this is "politics as usual" !

THE HUG

A Hug That Embraced Us All

 

If you didn't see it, Google it!  It happened in a pizza parlor somewhere in Florida.  There you will see a white guy, in the South, probably in his forties, hugging President Obama in a bear-hug that lifted him off the floor.

 

If you didn't feel a warmth from seeing that, you should have yourself checked.  What's all this crap about no white males, especially in the South, genuinely liking and supporting the President?

Are we being "had" by our media, the pollsters, and other talking heads?

 

That should drive the Repoobs in the House of Representatives" around the bend".  From their actions, and lack thereof; they're probably up against the wall already.  Uncle Remus surely is amused as this skinny black youngster beats the crap out of them inspite of their moving heaven and earth to keep him from accomplishing a damn thing as President of these United (in theory) States.

 

This election, which has brought the ugliest campaigning witnessed in my lifetime, has left us all weary and depressed.  The threats to the economic welfare of this nation brought on by the factions attacking us from within, are real and imminent.  Today's bizarre behavior by Mitt and the Repoobs over the tragic incidents in Libya and Cairo seem beyond cogent explanation.  The Hug shows that not all of us are nuts!

 

Then, there is the "Us", and the "We", and the "They", and the "Our"; terms weilded in their rhetoric like malignant code words.  Its clear those terms are not meant to convey total inclusiveness.

 

 Sounding sometimes like fanatics at their wits ends, we hear now of open warfare among the Repoobs.   It's about time!

 

Maybe our country will, once again, subdue the attack of this latest scourge?  Wack-jobs, drunk on religion and race seem to threaten us from many corners of the planet at the same time we fight them within.

WHY DO "THEY" HATE "US"??

Ask Our Merchants of Hate

 

On this hallowed date, the 11th anniversary of the 11th of September, 2001, callers to C-Span raise the question, yet again, "Why Do "They" Hate "Us"?.  As we reach the end of a 4-year campaign, richly merchandised on hatred of the sitting President, the question is relevant in a strange new way.  We know the "hate" strategy began with his Inauguration and was last in evidence at the Repoob Convention and the "empty chair".  Lately, Repoob strategists are "moderating" the message, substituting "understanding" for raw hatred .

 

Eleven years ago, "They" were clearly foreign, and of a foreign religion.  Today, that sentiment has been transferred to the President who succeeded the Repoob administration that left us with so many events to regret.  That transfer was instant, and un-relenting (rationale for the hatred was to be fashioned later).  As we move forward, will this free-floating aura of hate, so valuable to the Repoobs as they pulled their shenanigans, continue to be used to paint political opponents?

 

Eleven years ago, "Us" were those people most likely to feel like they, personally, were the target of that event.  Now, "Us" are those persons in the country who find anger useful, who feel their world has come to an end.  For these people, "Us" includes home-grown malefactors such as Timothy McVeigh, those actors who brought us the Anthrax attacks, and the Abu Ghraib perpetrators. " They" are still felt to be both "foreign" actors and those U.S. citizens who look like them.

 

The morphing of sentiments to target new people and to pursue new political targets, brings us a new "terror" to contend with.  The Repoobs fail to understand that the best way to eliminate terror is to stop manufacturing terrorists.  To stop using hatred  and religious beliefs as a political tool, would be a very useful step.

 

They should try to see ALL of our citizens, who want to live together in fairness and peace as "Us".

"ROHRSCHACH" Election 2012

Elephants Everywhere?

 

As we approached his Inauguration in 2009, cartoonists were having a high old time sketching our "first" (known) Black President.  One I remember, showed a scrawny black guy walking behind an elephant with a broom and scoop.  Four years later, the "scoop" is on all of us.  While most of us were trying to make out what we were in for, the "Elephant" guys who created the poop were holed up in a bar plotting how they were going to make Damn Sure the scrawny guy never had a chance to do the job we elected him to do.  But, "Surprise"; by just about all accounts, he's done "One Hell of a Job" -- and got Bin Laden to boot!

 

One scrawny, old, angry, white, make-believe cowboy, launched Mitt and the Repoobs on their way to the election by laying more poop at their Convention.  His vile, racist diatribe was there for all to see.  After four years of devising ways to heap scorn on the President and to demean him as a human being; it seems they're still at it;  with Mitt's approval; it appears.   Take a look at his statements this morning on Face The Nation.

 

Its been quite a "Rorschach" season, in the media and elsewhere!  Include Mitt in the mix. There are such a variety of psychological reactions to Clint's "grand statement" to and for the faithful.  They can't be the least bit racist, though.  Heavens, No!  They used to talk about "no fools like old fools" (but Paul Ryan's not old).

 

The Rorschach phenomenon dogs every aspect of this election; from the view of the candidates, to the view of the nation's future; to the future of our economy.  Senator Graham, from the old race bastion of South Carolina seems to "get it".  He is afraid that this country might just run out of angry old white men.  Then What? One Hundred and Eighty-Two years after he wrote his chapter entitled: Some Considerations Concerning The Present State and Probable Future Of The Three Races That Inhabit The Territory Of The United States, Alexis de Tocqueville would find this approaching 2012 election a marvel.  Who could dream that a President of the United States could be found who had no direct link to chattel slavery in the Americas, yet was African -and-White American?  That such a man could accomplish so much in spite of lingering beliefs and attitudes that were recorded in that chapter.

 

My God!! Its enough to have all the angry old white men struggling to keep their sanity.  But for the rest of us, by simply casting a vote we can answer De Tocqueville's question and finally free our posterity from the curse of the ages.

REPOOBISM: THE MEGA-"FACTION"

Over the years, I have skimmed Federalist No. 10,

but today, I looked closely and was stunned by its application to what this nation is going through as we approach the election of 2012.  "Factions: --defined loosely as "any interest group" were something that Madison, Washington, Franklin, and others thought this nation should guard against at all cost. 

 

Repoobs are a Mega-Faction today, harboring Libertarians, Tea Party adherents, what's left of the Republican Party, Religious-Right adherents, angry white Southerners, and their expatriates in other regions of this country.   Together, with the addition of mega-dollars from the extremely rich, who can "contribute" unlimited funds with anonymity; this group is a Faction-on-Steroids!.

 

At a time when, under the  Articles of Confederation, the Congress had no power to tax, could not pay debts of the Revolutionary War, Madison was asked to convene a national convention to prevent a break-up and bankruptcy of the Union.  Sound familiar?  Congress has the power to tax today, but refuses to use it; demanding instead that the super-rich have their taxes returned to them.  At a time when the nation is drowning in debt brought on by wars, factional legislation and fiscal policies, the Repoobs are pushing the nation ever-farther into economic trouble.

 

Our Constitution emerged from the national convention Madison convened in 1787.  That Constitution is under severe attack by a coalition of factions harbored by the Reepoobs.  Funny, what caused this historic Constitution to come into existence was fear that the poor would gang up on the rich!  What a belly-laugh!  (sick humor?)

 

Diversity, something that gives the Repoobs heart-burn today, is what the Founders thought would protect the Union.  But, Diversity in those days was a "whole-nothr'-thing".  You see, in those days only whites were considered to matter under their efforts, and diversity pertained mostly to regional differences, ethnic differences, and religious differences.  The founders also thought that concentration of wealth would be a problem that should be avoided where possible.  They also thought large Federal Government would save us from factions.

 

What the Mega-Faction is up to today is greater concentration of wealth.  They hate taxes and large government.  They can't stand today's diversity, and want to destroy all of the measures put in place by our federal government to protect the poor and create the Middle Class during the Great Depression.

 

The answer and solution then, is the answer now --compromise and the voter.  Rather than leave sovereignty in the hands of State Legislatures or in the Federal Government, they placed it in the hands of voters in a Representative Republic.   I'm sure the Founders never dreamed that the Federal Representatives could be so easily bought by factions.  So Vote Like you Mean It this year -- you just may do more to save your country than our military has done since the Revolutionary War!

IS "DIFFERENT" Automatically "BETTER"??

Small Children and Angry Voters THINK Like That!

 

Looking back at the trail of national votes for the Presidency of the United States in my lifetime, we see a strange pattern, driven by a tendency of voters who respond to media pressures rather than careful thought.  If truth could be told, I'll bet that many voters in the national elections since 1960 (my first year voting) would reverse their selections.

 

"Are you better off than you were four years ago" is a shallow and dangerous question.  It is not yet clear just how bad off we each were four years ago.  Four years ago takes us back to Bush/Cheney and Secretary Paulsen.  There are statistics that can be assembled, but most voters were only aware, at that time, that  the impending economic catastrophe was "grave".  They may have had jobs then and not now; or more money then than now; but any  "snapshot"  of that time will yield a distorted picture.  Too much was unknown then by the voters in 2008; and  now!

 

 Awareness shifted daily, starting in mid-September 2008.  The slow speed of the spread of accurate awareness to the voters, versus how quickly that turned into lost jobs and incomes, are starkly  contrasting waves.   The speed at which the "bad news" spread among the populace was slower than the spread of terror following 9/11.  So, the accurate question should be "are you personally better off in September 2012 than you KNEW you were in September 2008"?

 

 Our  media STILL portrays the crisis as just another "recession".  Nobody who considers themselves informed would agree with that portrayal.  We're still learning the full nature of the economic calamity that struck in 2008.  The Repoobs are on the stump continuing to spread confusion and disinformation about it.  There is a European chapter of the calamity that is playing out as our election approaches.

 

Given the fuzzy nature of our awareness of just what we're facing economically, a hasty change of the team of combatants fighting the scourge seems foolhardy!  "Let's try somebody different!" is the rallying cry of the scared, the angry, the power-hungry, and the monied opportunists among the Repoobs; whose fingers are still clutched around the throat of our economy in an effort to weaken it further.  It's now clear that long after this election passes, the aftershocks of 2008 will continue to strike.  Those who understand it best should remain at the helm.

It's time to think, pray, become more aware, and examine closely those who claim they can "fix" our problems.



OUR NATIONAL DEBT

What Did We Buy? and When Did We Buy It?

 

The Repoobs kept a Debt  Clock running in their national convention in Tampa.  As of this writing, it is reported to be above 16 $T. http://abcnews.go.com/Business/national-debt/story?id=17159803

 

Former President, Bill Clinton, told the Convention last night: "Republican economic policies quadrupled the national debt before I took office; in the 12 years before I took office ... and doubled the debt in the eight years after I left".  That means,  the madness began  with former President Reagan.  Remember David Stockman? He was Reagan's Budget Director, who revealed their plan to create "deficits as far as the eye can see".  Deficits create Debt!

 

How much money are we talking about?  What was the net increase for the national debt since Reagan?  In 1980, the debt was around 3 $T

What did we buy with all that money?   The national credit card has grown by 13000 $B over the 32 years during which we had a Repoob President for 20 years -- President Clinton produced surplusses during the only period we had a Democrat.  We can start with SDI, then add all of the Tax Cuts,  the Gulf War, The Iraq War, 9/11, the Afghanistan War, The War on Terror, Medicare Part D, and the creation of Homeland Security.   No President in our history started wars without providing a means to pay for them.  All this was charged to credit cards  by Repoobs!  Some of this "drunken sailor spending by Repoobs was put on "auto pilot"; spilling over into the Economic Implosion that waited for President Obama's inauguration.

 

Any voter who doesn't understand this, simply doesen't want to.  They're driven by unpatriotic motives to twist facts and give themselves total control of our Democracy.

The GRANDEST THEFT (and impending Death?) OF A NATION??

Will the "Guilty" be REWARDED and NOT PUNISHED?

and you get 686$B!  Now we know, perhaps, why they held us up for another 700 $B on their way out the door!  Altogether, there was about 1.4 $T mismanaged by that gang.  Who was onboard and voted for all of this mess?  The "Big-Eyed Slasher" -- Paul Ryan, who is now accomplice to Romney.  This knife-weilder was not only a party to grand theft, he also "knifed" the Simpson-Bowles Commission; denying our country a path to recovery.  Ambition for you!! 

A significnt number of voters appear to want to reward him for that behavior by making him Vice President??

 

Now, for the other part of the dynamic duo trying to steal what's left of this country -- Mitt??  He's been adamant and crafty and so far successful at hiding two things:  his taxes and his religion.  Ever wonder why?  Check out http://andrewsullivan.thedailybeast.com/2012/07/the-mormon-candidate.html.  the  Mitt Romney Documentry on the BBC.  Pay attention to charges that Mitt, as a Bishop in the Mormon Church, threatened  a young pregnant unwed girl in an effort to force her to give her unborn child to the Church.  No voter should go to the polls without watching this 58 minute video.

 

But, tell us a gain, you ask, where in Hell did all that money go?  Tax cuts for the rich (Mitt & Paul want even more); three wars (Mitt & Paul want more); Medicare part D (Mitt & Paul want to destroy Medicare as we've know it).  God help those seniors in nursing homes paid for by Medicaid -- Mitt & Paul plan to get rid of that program at the Federal level. They put everything they did not stuff in their pockets  on a Chinese credit card!!!

 

Given all this, why is any sane voter seriously considering these guys?  Well, the big-eyed one has taken a page from the book of John Edwards, and is trading on his looks; Mitt is doing what the rich always do -- get someone else to pay your bills, while allowing them to victimize you; and have someone else to blame for their screw-ups.  They call these activities "hard work".  Then there are those who hated Obama from the start and support the treasonous behavior of Congressional Republicans as they thwarted all efforts to  repair the damage.

 

Yeah, but what about the voters?  They could have avoided a lot of this mess by voting Kerry instead of  Bush in 2004.  The Supremes opened the door to the rabble in 2000, but not in 2004!  Now they're behaving like a drunk with amnesia, who has forgotten everything except the promise that a cure for a horrible hangover is to continue drinking.  And, as always, there's the race thing.

DARK FACTORIES

Why Don't We "GET IT" after more than 30 YEARS??

 

 A revelation of what is now termed "Romney-world" was revealed in class by Peter Drucker in the mid-80's.  He told us of "dark factories" he saw in Japan.  They were dark because there were no workers -- the goods were made by robots.  He said the same thing would happen in the rest of the Developed Nations; but not UNTIL AFTER all cheap labor on the planet was discovered and exploited.  As the price of labor rises in places like Singapore, China, Brazil, and other places, more and more manufacturing has returned to the United States.  But hiring did not return.  They say that there are no "qualified" people to hire; but the real reason is never revealed; either by our media or our politicians.  THE NUMBER OF HUMAN WORKERS WILL NEVER AGAIN MATCH THE NUMBER OF WORKERS BEFORE "OFF-SHORING" BEGAN -- MORE THAN 30 YEARS AGO.

 

In the same time since the early 80's, "productivity" from the infusion of computers into the work place has sharply reduced the number of non-manufacturing workers.  The "back-room" materialized, in which non-manufacturing jobs that could not be taught to computers were "off-shored" to foreign workers, on foreign soil; MANY OF WHOM WERE TRAINED BY OUR WORKERS BEFORE THEY WERE LAID OFF.

 

Because of these twin advances in technology, Peter predicted that, by the year 2000, no company on the planet would employ more that 200 of the "right" workers.  Those companies could operate from anywhere, even from a mountain top or a ship at sea; so long as there was access to the talent required.  The year 2000 brought us a technology-driven financial melt-down, instead, with more of the same to follow.  The joblessness continued to mount, however.

 

WE STILL DON'T GET IT!  We keep being fooled by the agents of those who profit from the decline in employment, because they have the money to "mind-eff " voters when it comes time to vote.  Will we continue to vote our baser emotions instead of what is good for our financial futures?

 

In parallel, the rise of the "new financial industry" occurred, driven by people like Ivan Boesky and Michael Milken.   Romney sought the "instruments" used by Milken in 1988, according to TIME, September 3, 2012.

 

This triple-play combined in the Meltdown of 2008.  To expect ANY PRESIDENT to significantly eradicate the results of these long-running forces IN ONE TERM is certifiable!  

 

No matter which candidate is selected in 2012, there will be NO QUICK FIX!  The economic die is cast for a significant period ahead.

 

A close look at the Romney-Ryan proposals will show that the HELL NO Repoob stance will continue, and the wreckage will continue to mount.  The vultures, both at  home and abroad, will have plenty to feed on.  The voters in this country really have NOT been better-off since 1975!!

COSTCO or WAL-MART DIFFERENCE?

"Good" Jobs vs. BAD; "Good" Money vs. BAD

 

In my Drucker Notes, I wrote: "When Management Treats Workers Poorly, they're begging for Unions".  On this Labor Day, we can look back and see the landscape littered with joblessness and the decimation of Unions and the Middle Class.  The trend began with the Economic Crisis called the "Oil Crisis", and increased with every crisis since; culminating with the 2008 Meltdown and the loss of jobs in our economy at a rate above 8000 a month, (96,000 per year)!

 

Just for the record, this all happened BEFORE  President Obama's term began.  Each of the previous economic recoveries were jobless recoveries.  The MONEY BOYS who do all the hiring and firing, and laying off (not the politicians) drove the crises and the joblessness.

 

There is good Management (Costco); and embattled management (Wal-Mart).  BOTH ARE NON-UNION!  One treats their workers well and the other encounters strife; with their workers, and with the communities in which they operate. Yesterday's Fareed Zacharia GPS aired a debate between a former Bain "private" capital investor and a Venture Capital investor.  The Venture capital debater showed the difference with the "angel" investor, fostering growth with start-ups, versus the non-angel "private" guys,who feed on the wreckage of companies and the destruction of jobs, with an occasional "turn-around" to provide cover for their decimation.

 

In both cases; the bad management employer who mistreats employees by various means and destroys small businesses, brings blight and unemployment to communities; and the bad Money "investors" who bring joblessness, loss of pensions, and similar decimation of communities; there is ample funding to mis-characterize what they do and to grow these kinds of "businesses".  Both end up weakening or destroying Demand in our economy, while over-emphasizing  Supply. 
That leads to continuing weakness and ultimate collapse.  Mean-while, the individual "private investors" become insanely rich as the communities dry up.

 

In both the good management employer and the good Money investor cases, the community grows, jobs grow, Demand grows, employees are happy and have a beter future; with pensions!  Retired union workers also have pensions

CLINT reflects the HEART of DARKNESS

The Ugliest part of Our Past, Projected as our Future?

 

Three "make-believe" Cowboys, John Wayne, Ronnie Reagan, and Clint Eastwood;  are like like "peas in a pod" in their view of wealth, white supremacy, and violence.  Although the rest of this nation glorifies the images these boys represent; those of us who live in the real  "wild west" of today see another, much more ugly reality of that famed period when the lawless reigned free.  The state of Texas, a place where I had the misfortune to reside twice, glorifies this image more than any other because their state is a blend of three historic periods: the lawless white cowboy, the black slave, and the Mexican.  Will this nation devolve to Texas?

 

The race-based hatred and violence in Clint's "performance" before this nation and the world was clear and unmistakeable.  The Repoobs, masters of mendacity and deceit, are spending millions in their attempt to put a different face on his travesty.  Mitt, as in the aftermath of Limbaugh's vicious and dirty attack on the young college student, in the aftermath of his "birther" comment, and now this, has let it all stand without comment,  or with pitiably weak responses.

 

Eastwood's revelation of the heart of Repoobism also shows what the future for this country would be if the voters elect Mitt and Paul:  violent, mean, and impoverished.  There would be a few mega-rich who, like Mitt, pursue their  "happiness" by confiscating or limiting the wealth of others.  Mitt has shown how the once great wealth of this nation can be destroyed, providing immense wealth for a few.

 

Capitalism is at its heart a balance between supply and demand.  After thirty years of championing the supply side, the Repoobs have succeed at fatally crippling, and nearly destroying, the demand side.  Dubya told the citizens who wanted to share in the sacrifices of the wars the Repoobs started, to "go shopping".  That advice was followed; contributing to the mess we're struggling to recover from.
