If it Ain't; It "Should Be"!
Is there no longer a "consequence" that derives from the violation of one's Oath of Office?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oath_of_office. Every Member of our Federal Legislature is required to recite an oath, or affirmation, to "Support" the Constitution of the United States. The "faction" in the House of Representatives who conspire to "undermine", or, in any way, "fail to support" the Constitution and, thereby, betray their Oath; should suffer "consequences", dont'cha think??
What took place on September 30, 2013; the Shutdown of the Federal Government, in retaliation for established Law; passed by Congress, signed by the President, ruled-upon by the Supreme Court, and confirmed by the national electorate in a General Election, is unprecedented in our history! It undermines our very concept of "Law". Failure to punish this transgression properly serves to undermine our traditional faith in law. It can encourage home-grown extremists to enlarge their destructive tactics. God help us all; if we are stupid enough to reward these bomb-throwers with more power!
Our Media is immediatelyabsorbed in the "Blame Game"; thereby, obscuring the transgression of Law and betrayal of Trust. The "talking heads" may also be so poorly educated in our History, that they are unaware of the Law-breaking.
Perhaps we've come to have such low regard for our Laws, that betraying an Oath of Office by high officials; no longer matters. It might also be a "generational thing". This erosion, places in jeopardy many other things we "take for granted"; and portends great damage to our property and our persons.
Make No Mistake! It's the "Law and Order Party" that has taken this turn. Make it their "death-knell"??
